Albert Chan

Albert's journey started in Hong Kong, and he joined the Magua Taekwon-Do family in 2017 when he moved to Toronto.

With an initial interest in martial arts movies, and culture, Albert has been a passionate practitioner for many years.

It was the summer of 2007, and as a teenager, he roamed around Hong Kong to pursue his dream, training in rooftop kung fu schools in the bustling city at night above the neon signs. Fascinated by the diverse martial art styles, he began in traditional southern kung fu. Eventually, through exchanging skills with friends, he found ITF Taekwon-do to have the most focused and systematic training with devastating techniques. Thus he trained diligently to red belt through the next five years. Sadly, the activity paused after a significant injury and several life events.

In 2017, Albert moved to Toronto and discovered the Magua Taekwon-Do School.

"Our instructor's high standard of teaching, discipline and dedication to students motivated me to resume training."

Albert jumped into training wholeheartedly. His journey has now evolved into a constant pursuit and refinement of techniques. His perseverance through an extended period of intermediate belt-level training and broad insight into martial art systems cast a solid foundation to build his skills.

Albert is currently a 3rd Dan black belt. Leading by example, he continues to train hard for improvement, thus inspiring, motivating and giving quality training to students.

He believes that integrity in Taekwon-do and the consistency in training found at our club are of utmost importance. He strives to uphold those values by maintaining high technique standards through rigorous training at our club.

Albert has attended many courses and seminars under world-leading Taekwon-Do Masters and Grandmasters, including GM Choi Jung Hwa (ITF President and son of the founder of Taekwon-Do), GM Trevor Nicholls (ITF Vice President) and many more.
